How do Adult Social Care and voluntary and community organisations work together?Voluntary and community organisations are independently run, have specialist expertise and provide a direct link to the community. They provide community care and other services, and have valuable knowledge of local needs. They infl uence the way we run our services. Some voluntary organisations are also 'direct service providers' (that is, they provide services for us as the local authority, or as well as our services). Together, we: develop existing services and plan new ones; check the quality of services; campaign for change; support individuals; and set up groups for people who use our services. We have signed up to the county compact, which is an agreement with the voluntary and community sector about how we work together. We also offer Community Partnership Funding (grants) to organisations that meet our conditions for this.Where can I get more information? For more information about our work with voluntary and community organisations, please phone Social Care Direct on 0845 608 0191.
